Terms of use
Last updated: 2026-05-31
By using SpecCheck you agree to these terms. They’re written plainly. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the tool.
The service, as-is
SpecCheck is provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind. We do our best to be accurate and honest, but we don’t guarantee that results are complete, correct, or suitable for any particular purpose. Checks are automated and can produce false positives or negatives; every result links to the relevant spec page so you can verify it yourself.
Acceptable use
You may use SpecCheck only to scan sites that you own or are permitted to test. Specifically:
- Only scan a site you own, operate, or have explicit permission to audit.
- Don’t use the tool to overload, attack, or disrupt any site, including by automating high-volume scans against a target you don’t control.
- Rate limits apply. We cap scans per IP and queue concurrent requests. Don’t try to evade these limits.
- Don’t use SpecCheck to break the law or anyone else’s rights.
We may rate-limit, block, or refuse access to anyone who breaks these rules.
Results are your responsibility to act on
SpecCheck reports what it observes about a site. We are not responsible for the sites you scan, nor for any action you take based on a result, including changes you make to your own site or to a site you manage. Read each result, check the linked spec page, and use your judgement before changing anything.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SpecCheck and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the tool. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is capped at the amount you paid to use SpecCheck in the 12 months before the claim, which for a free tool is zero.
Changes
We may update these terms as the tool changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.
